DIABETES PREVENTION
More than 1 million Michigan adults live with diabetes. Many others have prediabetes and do not know it. If not treated, type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health problems. The good news is that it can often be prevented or delayed. The YMCA is here to help.
Creating a Healthier Michigan Together
Michigan YMCAs, supported by the Muskegon YMCA and the State Alliance of Michigan YMCAs, have served more than 1,800 participants. Local YMCA partners help bring this program to communities all over the state.
About the Program
The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP) is a one-year, CDC-based lifestyle program for adults at high risk for type 2 diabetes. You will meet in a small group, either in person or online. You’ll work to build healthier habits around eating, activity, stress, and long-term behavior change. Participants who follow the program can lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by more than half.
