From the CEO, Gregory Coil
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well. As I begin this post, I have to admit that I am struggling personally with the recent events facing our lives and community. If confronting a global pandemic was not enough, we are also confronting social and emotional unrest in the aftermath of the needless and tragic death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
This injustice cannot stand. I am encouraged by the diversity of the crowds gathered to March and protest all over the world. This is a noteworthy and significant change.
We are confronting two threats, COVID-19 and racism. The YMCA is well positioned to heal communities. Our core values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty, along with our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, set us up to be thoughtful change makers in our personal and professional lives. We seek to support and lift up communities including the most vulnerable among us. Our mission calls us to action. Let us stand together and reject injustice and inequality… it’s time. Together, united we will heal and strengthen our community.
