Diet Myths: Are there certain foods that really burn fat? Does the time of day you eat really matter? Are potatoes and pasta making you fat? We’ll help you sort out these myths with a level head and a bit of humor. You’re certain to leave much less confused about what and how to eat.
Nutrition for Athletes: What you put into your body impacts what you get out of it. Putting the right foods in at the right time can significantly improve athletic performance and overall well being. If you’re training for a 10K, marathon, triathlon, or other endurance event, this is a class you won’t want to miss. Hydration and supplementation will also be covered.
Eating Healthy for Less: One of the most common excuses for not eating healthy is cost. This simply doesn’t have to be the case. We’ll cover all aspects of budgeting your food dollar from shopping, to packing a lunch, to putting dinner on the table for the entire family.
Eating to grow: Feeding growing children can be stressful. Many parents wonder what to care most about when it comes to meals and snacks. Does my child get enough protein too grow? How much sugar is too much? Do they really need to eat their vegetables? Erica Phelps, YMCA Registered Dietitian, will answer these questions and many others. You’ll leave with peace of mind on what your child really needs as well as ways to make this happen without a fight.
Comfort Foods: Comfort foods are familiar, simple foods that we tend to crave in the colder months. They warm us up and make us feel good. We’ll visit some popular comfort foods, weigh the health pros and cons, and come up with some healthy, but tasty versions of our classic favorites.
