Aquatics
Swimming is one of the best ways to stay healthy, and it is something you never outgrow!
Water Fitness is an ideal form of exercise for all ages and increases physical strength and endurance without putting stress and strain on joints. YMCA Water Fitness encourages people of all ages to use the buoyant qualities of water to enhance their physical fitness through exercises. Water can make some movements possible that would be very difficult on land. Swimmers and non-swimmers alike can take part in this type of exercise to reduce emotional stress and tension, improve health and physical appearance, and encourage and improve feelings of well-being and self-esteem.
The Tri-Cities Family YMCA offers several options for adults to participate in aquatics. In addition to our Group Water Fitness classes, we also offer Adult Beginner Swim Lessons. Periodically throughout the year, Stroke Clinics are available as well for those individuals who are looking to improve their technique.
Adult Beginner Swim Lessons
Our instructors can get you started on the basic front and back crawl strokes as well as help you gain confidence in the water. This class is designed for swimmers ages 15 years and up. See current Program Guide for class dates and times.
